With over 20 years of tour guiding experience in the region, we will assure a smooth and memorable trip. Each member of our staff is fluent in Russian, English and all of the major regional dialects, so language is never a problem. We are capable of placing the most marvellous sites in Central Asia literally within your reach.

We offer in-depth knowledge of all sites of interest and maintain local contacts in each area. We collect updated information to assure a safe, efficient, interesting and comfortable journey. Unlike some travel services, we always accompany you during your entire excursion. Along the way, our local assistants are always available to meet the needs of special group interests.

We have served hundreds of tourist groups from all over the world, and you may find references to us on the Internet, in both the Lonely Planet and Cadogan Guides to Central Asia, and in other sources. If you would like more information, please contact us. For proper scheduling, at least one month's notice is requested. Thank you.

SALOM Travel is not a travel agency - it is a full-service tourist escort guide service that provides a wide spectrum of personal guide services for both tourists and those on business who wish to do sightseeing. For tourists, we can also take care of the formal paperwork required for a smooth and memorable trip after your arrival. We can use our resources to arrange the most efficient and convenient travel arrangements within Uzbekistan consistent with your itinerary. We can also give information about visas in the other CIS countries; we have agencies in Kazakstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan who can help you with visas.

SALOM Travel can provide visa support for Uzbekistan. In order to provide you with a letter of invitation, we need the following information for each member of your party at least one month before your anticipated arrival:

We cannot just issue a letter of invitation; you must also choose one of our services (please indicate which ones you will use). It is possible to get Uzbek visas at the Uzbek Embassy in Turkey.

Upon receipt of this information, SALOM will fax a letter of invitation which you will then need to bring with you and display to the visa agent at the airport when you arrive. The agent will take this letter of invitation from you and provide you with a visa. The cost of a one year multiple-entry visa for individuals to Uzbekistan is $50, payable at the airport to the visa agent, and our fee for providing the letter of invitation and visa support is $15 per person. We can give you a visa support letter if you use one of our services (transportation, guided tours, etc.).

Regardless of your budget or which cities you choose to visit, SALOM can provide you with a place to stay. We can act as your agent to arrange all of your lodging accommodations, including escorted land travel for groups of from one to twelve. Lodging is available and very affordable in clean, fully-licensed bed & breakfast motels and in private homes. These living arrangements offer the unique opportunity to experience first hand the intimacy, flavor and traditions of a friendly and hospitable culture. Large hotels, while rather spartan, are available in Bukhara, Samarkand and Tashkent. Bed & Breakfast motels range from $15 to $35 while Intourist and five-star hotels are considerably more expensive.

In-depth city excursions of historical sites, ancient buildings, bazaars, tea gardens, museums, shopping tours to local artisan shops and other areas of interest on the old Great Silk Route are available in the ancient oasis cities of Bukhara, Samarkand, Khiva, Shahrisabz and the modern capital city of Tashkent.

Fields trips also may be organized to wildlife reserves located in the nearby desert. And sightseeing and shopping trips can be arranged to the largest Astrakhan ladies' coat factory in the world, to a gold embroidery clothing workshop, the local winery, jewelry shops and other local craft shops.

The Central Asian architecture, rich in exotic and ornate artwork, built on a scale of imposing proportions, offers a rare opportunity to enthusiastic photographers. The cities of Bukhara, Samarkand and Khiva offer some of the very finest architectural and artistic accomplishments from the time of the conqueror Tamerlane to the Tsarist occupation of Uzbekistan.

Whether your interests lie in traditional sightseeing or meeting with specialists in any number of fields, ranging from archaeology and history to hunting and fishing, from language and business programs to local arts and crafts, SALOM can devise a personalized itinerary to meet your specific needs.

SALOM aims to provide every traveler with the most comfortable and rewarding stay at a reasonable cost. We hope to hear from you soon so that we may be able to begin to plan for your individual Central Asian adventure.

We look forward to hearing from you,

Raisa Gareyeva, SALOM Director
