Burlington Public School Trustee Candidate Michael Duhacek
NAME: Michel Duhacek
OCCUPATION: Postman
ADDRESS/DEPARTMENT: Ward 4
CONTACT INFORMATION: email [email protected]
POSITION FOR WHICH YOU ARE RUNNING: Halton District School Board Administrator, Ward 4
PAST POLITICAL EXPERIENCE: Volunteering, organization of political events.
WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO RUN? I have always had an interest in serving my community through public service. I have decided to run for administrator so that I can be a voice for my parish and have an impact on decisions that directly affect my children.
WHAT ARE YOUR THREE MAIN PROBLEMS? My three main issues are supporting EAs and ECEs who help vulnerable people; the shortage of school bus drivers and maintenance staff and the promotion of a caring and tolerant learning environment to counter bullying.
IF YOU ARE ELECTED, WHAT DO YOU PLAN TO ACCOMPLISH IN YOUR FIRST 100 DAYS? The first 100 days as a fiduciary should be spent listening and learning. Listen to neighborhood voters and learn to navigate the processes involved in bringing about change and action within the education system.
HOW WILL YOU EMBRACE AND PROMOTE DIVERSITY IN THIS ROLE? I love my parish because of the diversity represented there. I will always be supportive when it comes to embracing all types of diversity, especially among students. Embracing diversity is the first step to kindness through understanding.
