Catholic Council welcomes new student advisor

Aidan O’Brien, a senior student at Assumption College, will serve as the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board trustee for 2021-2022.
“Aidan will be the voice of the students we serve,” said board chair Rick Petrella. “This is an extremely important position, as the student advisor helps ensure that the board is well informed about everyone’s needs when making decisions that impact students.
As a student advisor, O’Brien will work with the student senate and help implement the council’s 2020-2023 strategic plan. He will also represent the council at the provincial level as a member of the Ontario Catholic Student Trustees’ Association.
“I want to use my position as a school counselor to improve the school experience for all students,” said O’Brien. “I connect with my peers to see what they think is important and I will use this position to make a difference.”
A student on the Honor Roll since Grade 9, O’Brien is a member of the School Council, the Student Senate, various sports teams and the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) club.
Petrella thanked outgoing student advisor Alex Medeiros for his contributions during the 2020-2021 school year, “including his insight and efforts during the pandemic.
