CPS Energy accepts nominations for a new board of directors

Applications are now available to serve the northwest side of CPS Energy’s service area.

SAN ANTONIO – CPS Energy says it has started looking for a new board. The five-member board of directors will work together to oversee the utility’s electricity and natural gas systems strategies and policies, their website says.

“Each member of the Board of Directors strives to support the company’s customers who reside within its official 1,500 mile service area. This area covers Bexar County and parts of seven surrounding counties. To achieve better geographic coverage and clarity, the board selection process is aligned on four quadrants. in Bexar County, ”explains CPS Energy.

Their website describes the following for their application process:

In the search for a new trustee, the person will be selected in quadrant 1. See the area highlighted in blue on the map. Director Edward Kelley currently resides in Quadrant 1. His last term as director will end on January 31, 2022.

Each of the four directors can serve two five-year terms. In addition, the fifth member of Council is the Mayor of San Antonio, who is an ex-officio member. This is important because the City of San Antonio owns CPS Energy.

Aligned with the geographic area of ​​Quadrant 1, San Antonio City Council Districts 7 and 8, and parts of Districts 1, 6 and 9. Residents can find out which CPS Energy quadrant they reside in by entering their address on the website by CPS Energy.

Council members must be US citizens. With the exception of the mayor, each trustee receives an annual remuneration of $ 2,000. Regular meetings are typically held on the last Monday of each month at 1 p.m. in the company’s boardroom on the first floor of its corporate headquarters, located at 500 McCullough Ave, San Antonio, TX 78215.

Additional time requirements for Trustees include special board meetings, quarterly committee meetings and, as required, group and individual working sessions as well as public consultation sessions and various other events..
