Dees Named to Kent State Board of Trustees as Student Trustee – Business Journal Daily

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Governor Mike DeWine has named Haley Dees of Lisbon to the Kent State University board of trustees as an undergraduate. Dees’ two-year term ends May 16, 2024. She succeeds Dylan Mace, whose term as a student trustee recently ended.
Dees is a junior majoring in aerospace engineering with a minor in applied math. She plans to graduate in May 2025.
“As a future female engineering leader from rural Ohio, I believe my insights will bring a fresh and diverse perspective to the board,” says Dees. “Furthermore, having taken courses at several regional campuses, as well as the Kent campus, I can offer a student perspective that represents the entire Kent State system.”
At Kent State, Dees co-founded the Women in Engineering Club, where she serves as events coordinator. Since August 2021, she has been a tutor at Kent State’s Academic Success Center. She completed the university’s Honors Leadership Academy in fall 2021, which allowed her to connect with other student leaders on campus, participate in workshops to improve her interpersonal and leadership skills, and become familiar with the campus culture, events and services available. Most recently, she participated in the Undergraduate Summer Research Experience where she worked with a faculty member on a research project relevant to her field of study.
Her experience also includes a summer internship at the Ohio State University Extension Office in Columbiana County, where she planned and led summer educational activities for youth, created a 4-H club program in short term on aerospace engineering and related fields, and participated in concentration activities. groups, committees and board meetings with supervisors and fellow trainees.
