BOZEMAN – Concern and confusion have spread from the parent community in the Bozeman school district after the resignation of a former administrator and the timing.

“It’s really hard for me to believe that you haven’t all heard from Andy say he is moving, but maybe it is.” Maybe you didn’t know, ”said a frustrated parent at Monday’s school board meeting.

News broke about Andy Willett’s resignation shortly after three directorships were voted on in the May 4 election.

“I left the neighborhood without my knowledge, which seems – it’s a little embarrassing, frankly. The district line there is pretty irregular, and I never even thought about it, ”said Willett.

But parents were unsure how this had gone unnoticed since August 2020 and why after the election, suggesting it may have been planned because Willett’s post will now have to be appointed.

“It was a public election, and if you want to strengthen the county superintendent to find someone you want, then I think you’re going to get an egg in your face. You have to stay out of that,” expressed another frustrated. parent.

But Willet says the conspiracy talk is ridiculous.

“Unfortunately, we are in a day of conspiracy theories. It’s just ridiculous to me. It had no impact on last year’s vote. I thought, I felt I was a strong member of the board during my tenure, including last year during a very difficult year, and certainly no conspiracies, ”said Willett.

So with the board still a director shortly after the election, where do they go from here?

“Due to his move, there is a vacant position on the board and this position will be filled until May 2022 by the county superintendent,” said Mike Waterman, director of business services for the district.
