Foundation for Financial Planning Announces Appointment of Ben Harrison as New Chairman of the Board

Washington, DC, Aug. 03, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Foundation for Financial Planning (FFP), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to pro bono financial planning for people in crisis or in need, today announced that Ben Harrison, a veteran financial advisory executive, has been appointed chairman by its board of directors.
Harrison is Managing Director and member of the Executive Committee of BNY Mellon’s Pershing (“Pershing”), where he is co-head of its Wealth Solutions segment, serving the myriad needs of Registered Investment Advisers (RIAs), broker-dealers and trusts. companies. Prior to this role, Harrison ran Pershing’s RIA custodial business and held roles in business development and relationship management for the consulting market. He has over 20 years of experience serving the financial advisory profession.

Harrison previously served as FFP’s vice-chairman or chairman-elect and will serve as chairman until the end of 2023. He replaces outgoing board chair Kate Healy, who stepped down as she is taking on a new role as Executive Director of the CFP Board’s Center for Financial Planning.

While serving as a trustee of FFP, Harrison helped develop FFP’s Communities of Color initiative, funded by Pershing, to provide additional support in the form of pro bono financial planning grants in underserved communities. particularly vulnerable. He was honored with the Chairman’s Circle in 2010, recognizing outstanding performance within BNY Mellon. In addition to his service at FFP, he is currently a board member of the Woodstock Academy Foundation.
Harrison received a Bachelor of Arts in Economic Management from Ohio Wesleyan University. He also completed the Securities Industry Institute® program, sponsored by the Securities and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School.
FFP also announced today that its new Vice Chair will be Dr. Dave Yeske, CFP®, who will assume the role of Chair for the 2024 term.
