GRANGER – At the regular Granger Township Board meeting on August 30, a township resident raised concerns about target shooting in her neighborhood. The State Road resident said her neighbors’ target shooting activity was noisy and disruptive, and she inquired about township regulations for such activity. She said she called the Medina County Sheriff’s Office about it, but MPs told her there was nothing they could do about it. The resident also asked if there was a required distance between the properties for this type of filming to take place.
Administrator John Ginley explained that Ohio’s revised code allows target shooting in townships and townships do not have the power to regulate such activity.
Trustee Richard Pace added that while there is nothing the township can do legally, he sympathizes with the grievor’s situation.
In other cases:
• Service Manager Mark Novak asked if information was available regarding a storage building under construction at Granger Township Park on Ridge Road. He said whoever built it has to go through the right process to do it.
• Fire Chief Steven Kamp reported that the Granger Fire Department received $ 3,429 in an Ohio EMS grant.
• Sexton Roberta Gifford indicated that she had been approached by a Boy Scout who might be interested in carrying out an Eagle Scout project involving one of the township cemeteries, but said the Boy Scout had no still made a decision about it.
• Gifford announced that the Granger Township Bicentennial Committee will meet on September 23 at 7:00 pm at the Township of Granger Administration Building. She said the township’s late bicentennial celebration is currently scheduled for June 2022.
• Zoning Inspector Randal Davis said he issued seven permits and collected $ 1,211 in fees in August.
• Financial Officer Donald Baker announced that the township is expected to receive $ 491,910 as part of the US bailout. He said half of the amount will be issued this year, while the other half will be issued next year. The board subsequently approved three resolutions relating to the plan.
Baker also advised township officials to start preparing credit numbers for 2022.
Also at the meeting, the board approved the following:
√ a motion that Treemasters remove a fallen tree in Coddingville cemetery;
√ the purchase of EMS equipment from Bound Tree Medical for $ 3,501; and
√ a motion to send a letter of recommendation regarding the sergeant in the Medina County Sheriff’s Office. David Pries, who is applying for the post of chief of the police department of the township of Medina.
Granger’s next directors meeting is scheduled for September 13 at 4 p.m. at the Administration Building, 3717 Ridge Road.
