Effective September 1, Carter County will have a new administrator. Randal Lewis, who held the position for 28 years, opted out of running this year. He will be succeeded by his son, Chad Lewis, who was elected by voters this year to fill the post.
Lewis was honored Friday with a retirement party by his office staff. Lewis said, “It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the people of Carter County for the past 28 years.
“The achievements made during my years of service could not have happened without the expertise of my staff. Words cannot express the gratitude I feel for their tireless work and dedication. I’m sure the office will continue to provide the same level of service under Chad as when I was there. In addition, I would like to especially thank my family and my many friends who have supported me throughout my mandate. It was a joy to serve,” Lewis said.
Lewis said he plans to enjoy the beauty of the lakes and mountains with his family and friends during his retirement. “I will always be here,” he said.
His son, Chad, beat four other candidates for office in this year’s Republican primary. He was unopposed in the August election.
