Worcester mosque to ban trustee over assault conviction
DISGRACE administrator Abdul Sahid faces banishment from Worcester Central Mosque after assaulting his secretary.
Abdul Sahid, 54, of Northfield Street, Worcester, was convicted of assaulting Saiful Islam at Lowesmoor Mosque, Worcester, when he appeared in Kidderminster court on June 1.
Sahid was fined £ 311, ordered to pay compensation of £ 100, a victim fine surcharge of £ 34 and court costs of £ 500.

After the case, Mr Islam revealed that he felt unable to return to a place of worship he had helped launch, fund and manage since the September 2020 assault, but President Ruhal Hussain, who witnessed the incident, is determined to change that.
“He (Mr. Islam) was intimidated and assaulted by beating,” admitted Mr. Hussain.
“We’re going to have a directors and board meeting, we’re going to sit down because Mr. Sahid now has a criminal conviction and you can’t be a director if you have a conviction.
“Assaulting someone like that is not acceptable and if all the administrators agree, we will have to ban Mr. Sahid from the mosque and we would like Mr. Islam to come back.
“It was shocking and disgusting behavior. He hit him in the face for no reason and I don’t understand why he did it.
Asked why Sahid was not suspended while justice was being served, Hussain said he had “heard nothing” from the directors despite requesting the suspension “three or four times” .
When told that nine months was a long time for Mr. Islam to be away from his place of worship, Mr. Hussain replied, “That’s right, but the administrators didn’t suspend him. I don’t know why, I don’t have the power to suspend it.
“I asked Saiful (Mr. Islam) to follow what was going on, but they didn’t answer him.
Mr Hussain said the directors had since indicated “that they will discuss with Mr Sahid” and that a meeting to resolve the issue is expected to take place “this week or next week”.
