PORT JEFFERSON, NY — Since joining the Port Jefferson Board of Directors five weeks ago, Lauren Sheprow has been nominated by Mayor Margot Garant to serve as a trustee of the new Communications Commission, Department of Recreation and the Port Jefferson Country Club Social/Hospitality Commission.

“I was grateful for the responsibility and trust she gave me to work on those three areas,” Sheprow told Patch. “I spent time getting to know the Village staff and administrators who work in these areas and their responsibilities.”

Sheprow hopes to bring together staff, Port Jefferson residents and key stakeholders to help identify priorities and opportunities in the three areas she will be responsible for.

“I have worked to bring together passionate participants in forming committees that will offer feedback on how these areas can be improved or developed,” Sheprow said. “So my intention as a trustee is to work to keep my fellow trustees informed of the progress I’m making and to support the mayor on initiatives that are important to the residents of the village.”

Sheprow replaces Bruce Miller, who had served on council since 2014. He is now in transition to village government, according to TBRnewsmedia.com.
